He there,

I have ordered after a long investigation on the internet (must have read 1000's of posts on the subject of newbie equipment) and asking other people (including my coach) finally my first set of "good" equipment after playing with a "pre made" for a while.

I have chosen:

Blade: Andro Super-C Kinetic Allround+ flair
Rubbers: Butterfly Sriver G2 FX 2.1 (the thickness of 2.1 was suggested by my coach, i can handle it according to him)

Do you think that after all this might be a bit to fast or old fashioned?

Kindly looking forward to your opinion

Hi - One thing to remember is that its often the case that a player will outgrow their first bat ( usually the rubbers only ) so don't spend too much if you can help it. The rubbers you have noted are safe - consistent and fast. Having a 2.1 sponge is a little surprising as the key thing is CONTROL - nothing else matters with the first bat so it will be a fast bat - so practice is key. Worth considering 1.7mm on the backhand. Very best of luck.

all i can say is that I went for fast when i first started it was good but it was just too fast.

now got sriver l and chop on the back - both 1.7mm

its not what others think its what you think - good luck.

Faster the better for me, Des once had a go with my bat after breaking his old kenny blade, he just laughed at how fast mine was. That was in the glue days.

Is the maximum sponge thickness meant to be no more than 4m - thus 2.1 on both sides is illegal ???

Not that anyone will check unless you get to Olympic qualifying events - but I guess it depends on your own personal preference to be strictly legal or not.

Well it was 2.5mm both sides, not sure that it has changed now.

4mm is the maximum allowed thickness of sponge + topsheet on each side. So the thickness of a max sponge depends on the thickness of the topsheet. A 1.5mm topsheet could have a 2.5mm sponge under it for example.

Yesterday i went to my club, although there were competition matches there was 1 table free for training so i tried it for about 20 minutes and i was pleasantly surprised that after about 10 minutes i was pretty much able to keep the ball on the table
I must say, it is pretty fast but i don't have the feeling so far that it lacks control or that the it is the boss over me, of course I didn't do much really (just some contra fore and backhand at a steady pace) but this evening it is training day so i will have to do more challenging moves and strokes :pingbat:

I will let you know how it went

This is great stuff Ricor. I think it really helps is deciding which new rubber (out of so many) to try by reading players personal experiences. We await your further commentary.

THE LAWS OF TABLE TENNIS 2008/9
2.4 THE RACKET
2.4.3 A side of the blade used for striking the ball shall be covered with either ordinary pimpled rubber, with pimples outwards having a total thickness including adhesive of not more than 2mm,or sandwich rubber, with pimples inwards or outwards, having a total thickness including adhesive of not more than 4mm.
2.4.3.2 Sandwich rubber is a single layer of cellular rubbercovered with a single outer layer of ordinary pimpled rubber, the thickness of the pimpled rubber not being more than 2mm.

I recently sent a copy of the Laws of TT to the Institute of Insomniac Research and received a letter this morning saying that they have been instrumental in a pioneering breakthrough.

So I've just replied HAPPY TO HELP!!!!!:rulebook::rulebook:

I think that'll be a great setup even though I think G2 isn't as good as L or MK V.

I tried the Andro Kinetic but did not like the vibration through the blade,so i have gone back to the Andro super core + off tenergy 64 1.9 both sides. great control and good spin and speed.
