Ellenborough remain on target to take second place in the Senior British League Premier Division after playing really well to beat fourth-placed Westfield 5-3. Lorestas Trumpauskas and John Nilsson both played superbly and Westfield couldn’t find a response. Lorestas beat Chris Doran over three evenly contested games (12-10, 11-9, 12-10) and in his second singles he got the better of Damien Nicholls 10-12, 11-3, 16-14, 6-11, 11-7. The under-rated John Nilsson also hit top form and he beat Damien Nicholls (12-10, 11-8, 11-9) in his first singles followed by an equally important and match-clinching 10-12, 11-7, 11-6,12-10 win over Shaun Marples.
Champions Drumchapel Glasgow recorded their twelfth win of the Season by defeating BATTS Team Peniel 6-2. This turned out to be a top class match. Wang Zheng who had failed to trouble Terry Young (losing heavily 6-11, 7-11, 5-11) again raised his game against Ryan Jenkins to beat the Welsh International over five action-packed games 11-9, 11-7, 9-11, 6-11, 11-4 whilst Shuying Xu also pulled out all the stops as she got the better of Stephen Jenkins 11-8, 11-7, 8-11, 9-11, 11-8. Clive Carthy will also feel he was unlucky not to register a win here after he came close against both Stephen Jenkins and Craig Howieson. Clive lost 9-11, 11-7, 7-11, 11-9, 6-11 against Stephen and even closer 6-11, 7-11, 11-7, 15-13, 9-11 to Craig.
Ormesby surged into a 3-1 lead against DHS Greenhouse Progress but eventually had to settle for a draw. Andy Wilson scored an excellent five-set victory over Ashley Stokes to give his side that 3-1 lead but Dong Da Quin hit back for the Londoners by getting the better of David Meads over four ends. Patrick Thomas could make little head-way against Garth Kinlocke succumbing 3-0 as DHS Greenhouse Progress levelled the scores. Justin Ma then ran out a four game winner against Ashley Stokes to give the Clevelanders a 4-3 lead and bearing in mind that Andy Wilson had already beaten Ashley Stokes the Middlesbrough team might have thought they could take both points. The fact that they had to settle for a draw was because Ashley Willetts kept his nerve to get the better of Andy Wilson over five very well contested ends. Willetts prevailed 12-10, 13-11, 10-12, 9-11, 11-7.
Greenhouse TTK paid the full price for being a player short against Fusion, losing 6-2. Gareth Herbert was responsible for both of the Greenhouse TTK wins beating both Tom Cutler (3-1) and Niall Cameron (3-0) but nether Fatlum Sadiku or William Cooney could add to Gareth’s successes. William Cooney came closest to doing so, leading Simon Phillipz 2-1 before succumbing 11-3, 5-11, 11-7, 8-11, 7-11.
