I have used faster blades in the past but now using a slower blade I am a lot better when opening loops close to the table, what blades do people recomend for players that stay mostly close to the table and are looking for 3rd ball and 5th ball attacks?

Swings and roundabouts this one, the faster offensive blade with a large sweetspot will give the player a very fast shot providing the stroke is correct and the pairing rubber is suited to the blade, having said that if you choose to be offensive staying close to the table most of the time this msybe fine but the fact is many drop back and thus find it hard when there is a defensive or slower player as an oppostion. The thing we have to remember is the ball is not got to remain on the blade for very long when using offensive equipment so players choosing aggresive and offensive blades must remember this, the underlying problem of many players not dealing with defenders very efficiently is the offensive blades or rubbers used in conjuntion with each other, leading to shots going into the net because of the ball leaving the blade far to quickly. There is the theory if you play the stroke quick enough it will "go through" the spin that was imparted by your opposition, wehter it was topspin or backspin.

try the waldner v1 ........excellent blade for just about anything you want to do...ive played with one for the last 5 years ish and cant knock them at all....very good design
I recently changed from a T-4 to a K-1 blade (both fast Galaxy blades for those not in the know). The faster T-4 excels at mid/long distances and is controllable for the shorter stuff. The slightly slower K-1 gives much more feeling and control allowing you to put more into the opening loop with out fear of going long. If I didn't think my long range game might suffer, I would probably try a slightly slower blade from the K-series. I think for my style this would probably be the ultimate close to the table blade.
