What is a Premier Club is pretty much the first and most obvious question ........
PremierClub is the English Table Tennis Association’s national programme for club development, designed to help new and existing Table Tennis clubs. It has been developed to...............
create an integrated network of clubs - working in groups supporting each other
provide a nationwide support structure for talent identification and development
be central to the implementation of the ETTADevelopment Plan.
align with Sport England’s CLUBMARK programme
PremierClub helps to strengthen the club structure and leads to:
larger, better organised clubs, with increased membership
clubs that are welcoming and accessible to all
increased playing opportunities
better competitive opportunities
better playing and social facilities
stronger and more successful England teams
more and better trained coaches, administrators and officials
How does it work?
The PremierClubprogramme is for all Table Tennis Clubs committed to development and to raising their standards.
Clubs register on the programme and work to achieve the criteria at one of four levels, PremierCLUBMARK, Participation, Advanced and Excellence, as set out in this leaflet.
The criteria are cumulative, the programme at each level includes both the elements for that level and those for the level(s) below.
The PremierClubprogramme also includes ‘Ability’ an integrated programme of activities for players with disabilities and complementary volunteer training for club members and coaches.
Clubs are offered help to prepare a club action plan to identify their particular key areas for future development related directly to the programme Criteria Tables at each level.
The Criteria Tables set out the required standard for each level of club across 11 areas of development, to promote quality of provision and consistent standards across the whole country.
The criteria are not intended to be restrictive or limiting, clubs are encouraged to go beyond the stated requirements to take into account their particular local circumstances.
Clubs in a particular area are grouped together into a ‘cluster’, with inter-active links between them that provide mutual support and benefit, and pathways for individual development that allow a player to retain links with their ‘home’ club.
CLUBMARK is Sport England’s accreditation programme that sets standards for all sports clubs in the areas of duty of care, child protection, coaching & competition, sports equity and club management. A PremierClub that achieves Accreditation at any of the four levels also achieves CLUBMARK and the wider recognition that they are ‘Active, Accessible and Accredited’.
Premier Club - club concepts
PremierCLUBMARK and Participation clubs offer activities at grass roots level to the local community, providing regular opportunities for all players to participate and improve.
They provide the core activities of structured coaching, local junior and senior competition and open play/practice and are likely to operate two to three evenings per week in hired facilities such as a school gym, community centre or sports/leisure centre.
Advanced club is able to offer a more extensive playing programme at local level and also provide advanced coaching and training for the more committed and talented players from a wider area, helping them to perform in higher level competitions.
Excellence club is committed to high levels of achievement in the development of Table Tennis. A large and well-organised club it operates all year round, probably from its own specialist facility. A club that is able to compete in national team competitions and support players in individual competitions.
The club is the focus for the development of the most talented local players, helping them to move up the national rankings and helping to deliver the ETTA national training programme through support at regional
