Aims - The ETTA vision for the sport is ‘making table tennis the most popular and successful indoor sport in England '

This statement is central to our department aim and provides a focus for our activities that are about growing the sport by increasing levels of participation and membership.

What do we do? Our role is to ini tia te, support and advise on the development of Table Tennis by supporting local groups (often clubs and leagues).

Our work is primarily strategically focussed. We work in partnership with other organisations to assist table tennis; on a strategic level these include school sport partnerships, local authorities, youth sector, County Sports Partnerships and the like. On a local level, partners include schools, youth groups, leisure facilities etc.

How do we do what we do? - The department is supported by Sport England (government funds) to employ a team of national and regional staff that are deployed at the ETTA office in Hastings and also throughout the 9 regions of England .

ETTA applies for and receives grants and funding to create resources, incentive schemes and school club links to benefit its member clubs and leagues.

Structure - The department has a complement of National and Regional staff
The role of the staff is to implement the policies and programmes of the Association detailed in the ETTA whole sport plan. Staff have annual work programmes with targets to achieve.
Priorities - The priority of the department is to develop a strong club structure across England through supporting club, coach, facility and volunteer development.
Typically the department gets involved with:
• Club development
• Coach education
• Improving facilities
• Supporting volunteers
• Setting up competitions (Junior leagues, Ladders, draw sheets, group and match sheets)
• Skills Awards
• Equity (Disabled, women and girls, racial equality)
• Table Tennis in schools
• Promotion and publicity (posters and leaflets)
• Lobbying (stating the case for investment in Table Tennis)
• Funding
