I was reading an article yesterday whereby success continued for English Table Tennis as some of the 2012 hopefuls dominate another international tournament. Although they were top seeds, England’s trio of Paul Drinkhall (http://www.olympics.org.uk/AYOF07/athlete.aspx?sp=TT&at=6450), Danny Reed and Gavin Evans did well in the event, winning a hat-trick of titles and dominated the Canadian Youth Open.
The team event as usual was before the singles events, and provided a taste of things to come, however are we prepared for the 2012, by that i mean will we as a country do well in the olympic Table Tennis.
The question is one that has been asked about various sports, not only Table Tennis, you would probably agree there seems to be little overall success in "major" events on the World stage of sporting activities given we are allocating more money towards sports why the hell do we never seem to to more than at best "adaquately" in most sports. The example could easily be Tennis where the United Kingdom has got worse instead of better, Table Tennis seems to be going the same way.
Unless something dramatically changes can we expect anything but average success?
