So I was at an in-house tournament in Nanticoke, PA yesterday. Was playing the "softie" as I have been of late.
Mind you, I achieved my first ever somewhat paltry rating of 1206 back in July in Allentown PA. First tournament ever at the age of 49....
So I did OK and took 4th in the "C" bracket. Mostly, I had a great time and
that's what I was there for.
Meanwhile, some of the other fellows want to play a bit of Hardbat.... so HEY... I'm all up for that.
Not having swung any of my hardbats for quite some time, I did approach with a bit of trepidation... but, considering I was playing men rated 1700 and 1900 respectively, I think I did a good job of holding my own with scores of 21 - 17, 21 - 15 and thereabouts.
Rather pleasantly surprised with my showing there!
I did of course have to bust some chops about high-toss pendulum serves not quite being in the spirit of the hardbat game ;-) but it was all good and lots of fun.
Quite interesting how everyone else stopped what they were doing to watch the hardbat play too.
As it were, they were pretty much the best AND most exhausting matches of the day. Additionally, it is always the best of fun when a point ends not due to unforced error... or even a devastating winner... but through both players losing it in uncontrolled laughter:rocker:
But then.... That's HARDBAT!!!!!
