What's your funniest Table Tennis moment? Have you ever ripped your shorts or fallen over during a match? Have you ever hit a ball that's ended up in the most unusual of places?

Make us smile with your humorous stories. :snigger:

I did once see an opponent remove his tracksuit bottoms then realise he'd forgotten his shorts.

You seen the Table Toppers, Brian Kean, John Hilton, Phil Bowen and Nigel Eckersley?
They once did an exhibition which ended with, IIRC, John and Brian jumping on to the table and when they finished the point, went to the net to shake hands. Unfortunately the table was a foldaway.:bag:

I once attempted a loop but the rubber detached itself at contact. The ball went for a winner but the rubber sailed away just missing the umpire's head.

I've always wondered what the rule is for that one.

Similar experience i had to swerve severely when an opponent played a stroke, big loop again and his racket detached rather quickly from his right hand and nearly took my nose off.

tommy robson losing in a match v bob reed, bouncing round the floor crouching in a frog like manner with hands over head,(looking remarkably like Basil Fawlty when mother johnson opened the bedroom door.)) swearing profusely with lots of blaspheming.Unfortunately we were playing in a synagogue.
Remember crying with laughter.

A couple of strange points I've played in....

On trying to forehand loop down the backhand line, the ball came off the bat edge, shot across the table to the opposite net post, hit the top of the post and returned on the oppenents side at the same angle. Needless to say the chap at the other end didn't get to the ball as he had covered the ball heading towards his backhand :dance3:

In another match the opponent had dropped the ball short over the net, and clipped the edge, managing to get to the ball I somehow scoped it up 'under' the net so that it landed on the table and just rolled along the surface without a bounce.

The last strange shot I remember must have been about 20 years go, standing well back from the table to return a very high smash, I was able to get the bat to the ball with a side spin chop - much like a tennis serve - the ball angled back to the table straight at the player at the other end. Just as it reached the table surface, it suddenly flattened out moving side ways rolling across the table!

I glad no one plays these against me, they just get loads of very ordinary nets and edges...........
