Plus:

There are vacancies for members of the Board of Appeal which could be filled and applications are invited for the position of Clerk to the Board. All posts are voluntary.

Brief outline of Duties of Members of the Board of Appeal

In the main the Board of Appeal is responsible for hearing appeals from affiliated persons, affiliated clubs, Local Leagues and County Associations against decisions of County Associations and English Table Tennis Association Limited. This involves considering the implications of the rules and regulations of a Local League, a County Association and English Table Tennis Association Limited. It is usually necessary to consider and assimilate the contents of a large bundle of documents and correspondence. An appellant is sometimes represented at a hearing by a solicitor or counsel.
In recent years appeals have averaged less than one a year but when selected for a panel it’s all systems go until the appeal is determined.

Outline of Duties of the Clerk to the Board of Appeal
Briefly the duties of the Clerk are to advise the Board or a Panel on Rules, Regulations and Procedure, during the course of an appeal and in general at any time.
The Clerk will need a sound knowledge of the Rules and Regulations of English Table Tennis Association Limited and in particular the Board of Appeal Regulations (Appendix ‘O’ to ETTA Rules).
The Clerk is assisted in his or her administrative duties by an Assistant Clerk (Administrative) and there is minimal writing involved.
Ideally the Clerk should be a solicitor or barrister with table tennis experience but this is not absolutely essential.

If anyone is interested in filling one of these positions, further information can be obtained by writing to John Freeman the Chairman of the Board of Appeal c/o English Table Tennis Association Limited, Queensbury House (3rd Floor), Havelock Road, Hastings TN34 1HF

I thought Mark Smith was working as a coach for TTK - he was at a school in Tooting. That's probably how he affords the high life and the tournament fees
