There has been comments on the "worst" venues or places to play, so lets be fair here and tell us the best you have played in or the most preferred venue you play in.

Being a VETT we are playing the second session of the British League at Doncaster Dome. Obviously its a central venue but yes a decent place to play.

It is always blooming cold there at the Grand Prix which is played in the middle of winter. Particularly the gluing up bit last year which was done outside.

Yes played there and JKC correct cold in the winter months although light is ok and floor.

The venue at Aldersley is or was good until the lighting became inadaqute, like so many venues they neglect the essential things such as good light, could be another topic as its very annoying centers are quite willing to hire a hall at rediculous costs but do not check and repair the lighting.

I quite like the Institute of Sport in Sheffield as the lighting is good and it is very suited to my spinny style. Halton TT centre is good too or as you say anywhere where the lighting is good. Because if the way I tend to go across the flight of the ball (looping) rather than through it (driving) good lighting is especially important to me.

The best venue in Northern hemisphere is probably St. Gabriel's.
Although the stadiums in Dortmund, Stuttgart, and Gothenburg where the Worlds and European's were held would fill up the minor places.
The National Indoor Arena, Birmingham is the best venue in which i have viewed international table tennis.

I know the rest of the venues but where is St Gabriel's ? Or is this a closely guarded secret for the new olympics:snigger:

Never played at Halton but it came up in conversation last night with Darryl Meredith who rates it highly.

best venue has to be the white chapel in concord washington now sadly demolished by the local council, typical. freezing cold, holes in floor, near the wall ,great for forcing defenders into. played thier on xmas day when i got my new gear of santa when i was 15 with haggis (gary mcdougal) anyone remember him,he often played with half a rubber and still won, very talented player ,anyway those were the days:happy:

I've heard that Halifax is a good place to play, although I haven't actually been there.

If my memory serves me right its great conditions - a venue dedicated to table tennis. I think a nice supply of bacon sarnies are normally available too - there's a bit of a trend now: Ormsby / Halifax - I'll have to get onto the Sunderland / Northumberland leagues to take up the trend - oooooh YES Churchill...!!!

St Neots has always been a favourite venue for me. The wooden floor always makes a difference.

Sprung floors ...........cant beat them, i hate floors where you unsure of your footing which strangely enough seems to be the case in many halls nowadays.
