This afternoon a colleague and I had what turned out to be a consummate hardbat match. First game was a squeaker... volley after volley, drives, chops, pushes... ALL of it... he took the first game 21 - 19.

The second game... simply and utterly INSANE. Like two madmen going at it... for what seemed like an eternity.... I took the second game. Score?

THIRTY TWO to THIRTY (32 to 30)!!!!! Can't say as I've ever had such a game before. It was... awesome.

So... third game, my experience in tournament play and hours of robot training paid off... I roasted him 21 - 13 but still a very spirited game to the end.

Not too bad considering I've got about 20 years on him. ;-)

To say we were all in after that... would be the understatement of the day. End of match we just stood at opposite ends of the table shaking our heads in utter disbelief.

THAT my friends... is HARDBAT!

Hard bat but a headache !

I remember playing in a handicap match where i was in the final against a local league player and scores started at ........ -190 v 50

Work that one out and when you do try and give the scorer some thought !

Whats the longest match you ever took part in !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I played a match in the London Banks League in the early 1980s and at 0-0 in the first game Tony Taylor on the next table was already well into a rally. When my game finished (can't remember the score but it was fairly close and of course up to 21) Tony's rally was still going.........
