Butterfly Skills - a brilliant new and inclusive table tennis initiative for teaching table tennis - is to be launched by James Purnell MP, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, on 28th November at the Youth Sports Trust School and Sports Partnerships’ Conference in Telford.

The Butterfly Skills table tennis programme provides an exciting and progressive framework to deliver table tennis in schools, clubs and sport centres nationwide. With four skill levels to work towards, this truly is the “must have” tool kit for all table tennis teachers and coaches.

Find out more tomorrow........

Saw this on the etta and looks interesting

As ive mentioned in my post in relation to Englands performance in competitions such as Palo Alto...............HERE (http://www.tabletennistalk.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?p=353#post353) the need for future planning and development is critical if the sport is to survive a the rocky road of youth distractions such as playstations and other glamorous less cardio toys. Many sports are feeling the bite with any new initiatives such as the above .......Butterfly Skills (http://www.englishtabletennis.org.uk/development/dyncat.cfm?catid=26817) programme being an overdue and hopefully not to late addition to a somewat slow and retarded recruiting campaign from the powers that be.

Having said that my sympathy's certainly go out to those who coach and feed the new players, with sometimes little or no reward, the general trend is deffinitely improving in my particular area with an increase in younger blood participating and indeed moving into the league levels. We hope they will progress and obviously move into the next stage.
