Hi Dale,

The results were as follows:

Mens Singles: Dave Godbold (Harry)
Mens Doubles: Dave Godbold and Gary Sangster
Mens Vetts: Dave Godbold
Mixed Doubles: Tony and Shirley Gelder

I believe there were some outstanding performances by the young Barella's (Anthony and Graham) - well done to them both and keep it up.

Anthony narrowly beaten in the 5th in the Mens Final against Dave Godbold after previously beating the last weeks Northumberland League Champion Andrew Wilkinson (Wilko) in the semi final. I'm sure you will agree that this was an outstanding performance by Anthony and without doubt this was the upset of the tournament.

Graham not to out done by his older brother also did exceptionally well be beating some highly seeded players too.

I'm sure site members will have further contributions and match reports but for now that is the summary of the leading results.

Over and out....Spongey!

Cheers, Spongey and Wilko. Not being one to hide his light under a bushel, I have already recieved a text from Harry Belafonte and congratulations to him. ....Its pleasing to hear that the barella boys are doing well and am sure if their development continues they will be champions of the future. We cannot have Vets winning everything !!!

taking nothing away from the barella's as they had a brilliant day and some great results ( one being Graeme beating me 9 in fifth) but i dont think the top players performed to there potential (especially me) lol

the curse of the Sunderlands goes on only won once last year in 16 years of trying (12 finals and 4 semis) its a curse !!!!

Obviously playing in a foreign country does not agree with you Mr Wilkinson. Could have been the food, climate or trying to understand a foreign language. It may even have been the time difference.....Ha Ha :yahoo:
