You'll be fine maaaaaatey - give it a good rest (i.e., until after we've played Birtley in the league at least...! - only kidding).

I'm sure it will settle down - oh know, I've just had a thought you might not be able to go to the bar....nothing new there then - see its better already!!!

Keep the Faith Maaaaatey - Sponge!

I think Bobby should rub some oil into his knee, FCB should apply a neck rub and DR should hold his hand in comfort.................TEAM WORK BOYS!

Harry
Sorry to hear about your knees. I don't know if this will help but I'm going to convey a story in hopes that it will.
I play tennis two times a week. about 2 two years ago I twisted to try to make a shot and my right knee cause be to stop playing. I week had passed and since I had no problems doing the day to day things with no pain I got on the count only to find the stop and go action caused me enough discomfort to stop. Again with no problems day to day I saw a practitioner, she pock pinched twisted and said you might have a torn ligament I will make an appointment with a specialist. 1 1/2 months pass before the specialist pock pinched twisted and said you might have a torn ligament I will set you up with an operation date. Not wanting to have surgery for a might I started taking glucosamine chondroition with MSM and Hyaluronic Acid and 4 months later I was back on the courts, slow at first but still on the court. Now on the days after I play some days are better then others, but 400 mg of Ibuprofen works good for me if I can remember to take them after play.
As a side note I have a friend middle 40's did have the arthroscopic surgery because he did in fact have a torn ACL ligament. The doctor suggested he stay away from activities that require any twisting of the knee for 9 months.
I suggest a second opinion and an MRI to confirm whether or not you really need an operation
Personally the only time I would want a doctor operating on me is if it was life threatening.

:popcorn:cheers guy, know what your saying,I had op on my right knee 13 years ago due to old football injury when i was 18,was just torn cartlidge and this knee is playing up again, the doctor says the knee is stable just wear and tear so just a clean up and this knee will be okay.

Seen specialist about left knee last year was amazed to find that I had torn acl as was not to painful but unstable.
He operated but did not do major reconstruction as the tear was not to bad. Obviously the problem has got worse and he feels a major reconstruction is needed.
like you said not sure if I really want this op as it is 9 month re hab, knee is better after 3 weeks rest ,will see if futher improvement is forthcoming.
Take ibrobrufen when I play, and have taken glucosamine and cod liver oil tablets for years. you only notice a difference when you stop taking them..
cheers for the advice...

Hope the rest does you good. 13 years ago I had a back problem so bad that if I sneezed it hurt (no joke) I gained 20 ponds that I haven't been able to lose. That was a life lesson for me. It's ok to rest but to not watch what you do to yourself is another matter. All in all for an old fart of 55 I don't feel bad.
Again hope the rest does you good and you do well in the events coming up.

Harry could you not contact your local (makem) football team stating that you are a top tt player 40+ of course (only kidding) and ask if there is any chance of you seeing there physio for either advice or treatment. I did this when i was a junior after damaging my knee also playing football (the toon of course) and a week later was contacted by Paul Ferris (toon Physio) with a time for me to go in and see him after a little examination he treated my knee with electrodes and massage for 2 month.

Not only did he repair my knee but i was also mixing with the toon stars (Albert,Ginola,Beardsley) and had some good crack at the same time as getting back to full fitness!!!!

I've moved this Thread into this section because it is a good example of Players sharing their experiences. Doctors should know best but sometimes hearing what others have to say through their experiences it can provide alternative options which a Doctor may not automatically provide.

Hope the left knee is not causing you too much grief Harry?
