Boxing gloves are standard kit so that dosnt count, golf clubs dont count, that is standard kit.
boxers dont look at each others gloves before a bout.
golfers dont check the opponents bag before a round:fcb:

it is not obligatory to check your opponents bat before playing, but it is for the umpire.
it is obligatory for the ref to check golf clubs and boxing gloves..same as tt.
you could be at a disadvantage if you do not check your opponents bat tho..

A good topic this. I can't think of any. I'm still in favour of long pimples in the game though!

Belafonte makes a good point in that you could be at a disadvantage if you do not check your opponents bat at the beginning of a match, that is my point exactly,so i will ask the question again,After the officials have checked each player or sportsmans gear prior to an event to make sure everything is ok and legal,Which other sport requires that you personally then need to check your opponents bat or equipment again to avoid being at a disadvantage.:fcb:

Did you watch the Dunlop Masters the other night? I would say Chen Weixing's style of play was as good an argument for long pimples as any I've seen in a while. His matches were tremendous to watch!

Agree with Kev on this one, we do need variation even though sometimes we dislike the type of rubber in question. The variation on a defender against a non rubber "tuned" attacker will be worth watching.

For what its worth long pimples will be more widely used after September with the new ITTF rule of no tuners whatsoever so it maybe interesting to see throughout the world and in the UK who will be worse off. Many players solely rely on glue for their game and will struggle in my opinion.
