when i was at an England training camp in Durham (where newcastle utd used to train) i played against Les Ferdinand, Peter Beardsley and philipe Albert & David Ginola, Ferdinand was the best as he used to play after training.

Can remember being coached at Eldon square by Pop Robson who had called up to see his daughter who also played< i think he was coaching at Man Utd, he wanted me to do Ballet lesson's as it would of helped my footwork apparantly all footballers do (or used toabout 16 years ago)

couldn't see my self in a leatard though!!!!! ha ha even if i do play like a fairy sometimes !!!!! 9thought i would get that in b4 anyone else did)

One of the managers (I don't remember who, or for whom he manages, but it's not a Premier side) used to play to county standard I think.

Pop robson was married to Maureen Hepple whose dad actually coached a lot of first class footballers ( Bobby Moore included ) it using dance moves to improve balance
Lenny actually had a photo of him and george best at the fandango and he said george had actually played TT at the Fandango, night club in Hexham owned by Lennie and actually had a very good TT team Mitchy, pop, lennie and Maureen to name a few
Maureen was a junior the same time as Salty ( coached by Connie Warren ) and her exact words very talented player who lost his way a bit . ;I a very bit to India on the magic bus he even survived the afghani pass
even with more than 20 years out of the game a tremendous player Robstar

We were in Hexham about 18 months ago and Alan wanted to visit the Fandango to see if it was still there. It was'nt but incredibly as we left we met Lenny Hepple coming round the corner! Then we spent an amazing couple of hours with Lenny and Molly reminiscing in a coffee shop and even went back the next day to meet up with Maureen.

Alan comments that Lenny Hepple was an excellent table tennis coach because he understood movement so well. He was able to transfer his coaching skills to many other sports and, in particular, was in great demand with top football clubs and with the LTA to work with the top tennis players. Maureen Hepple may not have been one of the most naturally talented table tennis players, but she reached the England senior team largely because of the quality of Lenny Hepple's coaching. Maureen's husband, Pop Robson, was a good striker but he became much better through Lenny's coaching and was able to increase his speed to make him much more lethal over a short distance in and around the penalty box. Lenny's sister, Philomena Clark was also a good county player and coach. Her son, Andrew Clark, was also a good Northumberland player....what a talented family!

Impressive and yeah he's got long reach but not as long as Crouch's! Imagine Crouch as a defensive player and away from the table forget the drop shots he will get them all with that super long reach! :D

Rio Ferdinand once claimed he could beat anyone in the football league at table tennis. I think Steve Tilson accepted the challenge but the match never happened.

I believe a certain charity tried to set up the match and get it televised, they even offered to send up Gareth Herbert to coach Rio for a period of time but for some reason it never happened. Maybe Rio bottled it when he heard Steve was a former county player.

I believe Rio and Ronaldo are pretty good at table tennis.
