The Filton College table tennis academy in Bristol is celebrating after undergoing its Ofsted inspection this year.

The college is the front runner in college sports academies in the country and has now been recognised not only for its sports academy, but also for the academic sports courses that it offers.

The recent report by the government inspection body Ofsted, has awarded the college the top mark of ‘Outstanding’ in both the categories of Sports Academy and also the academic area delivering its Sports Courses.

Director of Table Tennis Kevin Satchell was delighted with the report and said’ this is due recognition across the college for everyone’s hard work.

“It now means that anyone applying to join the table tennis academy can be assured they will not only get top quality coaching and training on and off the table, but can also take an academic course that rates as outstanding, whilst training at their table tennis.

If for example you take a sports course such as a BTEC national diploma, it will be delivered by an academic team that have achieved the highest standard of excellence. This will marry together the college ethos of offering a quality education with the opportunity to pursue a sporting career to the most professional standard.”
