star of the future with a brilliant forhand !!!!! KEEP IT UP
only thing i can see that needs sorting is his free arm is stuck to his side but with him only being 5, and just able to see over table that should come in time once he grows!!!!!

Hope you all have a great time.

Comments from Alan: Very good hand-eye co-ordination and control of the ball. Fred is relying entirely on the movement of the arm and even at his age, he should be working towards getting the correct stance with the feet shoulder width apart, and some movement of the free arm to create the correct balance of the body. Well done, and look forward to the next video!

His free hand is better than on the vid I shot on Wednesday, it wasn't until I got home and looked at it that I realised he played most of the time holding his willy.

Looks similar to boll when he was a toddler, would nt worrt about technique to much, the video proves this kid has talent,tt all about time to play shots, if this kid can hit the ball like this at 5,when most kids cant catch a ball. he could be very good.:rocker:

Great video and brilliant to see such a young person developing so well at such a young age. Fred is relying heavily on the arm i agree with Alan and in relation to how good he is this should be moved on quite quickly now if possible with a view to really pushing on. He looks great and i agree with Harry the resemblence between the Timo video is uncanny!

I agree the free arm is a little slack and this is something to look at although I thought the latest thinking was that the traditional idea of free arm movement was bad as it gave away the direction of the shot about to be played. I would disagree about him relying entirely on the movement of the arm, I think he has pretty good trunk rotation although this is not something I have ever shown him. His feet are a reasonable distance apart when he remembers and I will keep reminding him of this. Any form of crouch is obviously difficult or he would be playing with his chin on the table.

His height as with all younger "smaller" players is an issue but will obviously improve as this changes, which will happen soon. His trunk rotation is good and yes it is a valid point about the giving the shot away however the total movement should not be sacraficed soley for that purpose. The whole thing will improve very soon me thinks as he is a great prospect. Once again great video and it is really good to see such players moving through the ranks so quickly like Fred.
At the rate he is growing now it wont be long before he can get over his backhands more. He has grown a couple of inches since the first vid.
My daughter has started whacking the ball around the kitchen now with one of Fred's old bats but it will be a couple of years before we get any vids of her up I think.

Perhaps there should be an Infants League? I'd pay to watch that
Fred can't bounce the ball on his bat more than a couple of times as he has never practiced it. Due to us playing lots of football and cricket and him practicing lots with his swingball he got very good at judging the trajectory of a ball moving towards him though.

HEY THAT IS A GOOD IDEA PRE SCHOOLS LEAGU???
she has good hand eye co-ordination would love her to take up tt but think she is more interested in dancing and singing at minute!!!!
I had hoped Fred would like TT, but didn't want to push him towards it in case I ended up pushing him away from it.

Can you just imagine two 5 year olds as good as Fred playing on a Table the right size for them. I bet it would be amazing to watch
Fred would need another month of practice to learn how to serve as he is hopeless at the moment. It is not something we have practiced a great deal though so I am not too worried at the moment.
