4 THINGS YOU PROBABLY NEVER KNEW YOUR MOBILE PHONE COULD DO

There are a few things that can be done in times of grave emergencies. Your mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool for survival. Check out the things that you can do with it:

FIRST Emergency

The Emergency Number worldwide for Mobile is 112. If you find yourself out of the coverage area of your mobile network and there is an emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly this number 112 can be dialed even if the keypad is locked. Try it out.

SECOND Have you locked your keys in the car?

Does your car have remote keyless entry? This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone: If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their mobile phone from your cell phone.Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other 'remote' for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the boot).

THIRD Hidden Battery Power

Imagine your mobile battery is very low. To activate, press the keys *3370# Your mobile will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you charge your mobile next time.

FOURTH How to disable a stolen mobile phone?

To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following digits on your phone * # 0 6 #
A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. When your phone gets stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless. You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either. If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.

This is something else.
I don't know if it will work in the UK but it may be worth a try.

Business Tip
Instead of calling directory assistance ($$$) try this free service from Google.........

If your cell phone plan includes text messaging, create a text using 46645 as the telephone number. In the message area, type in the name of the business that you need the number for.
Example: Starbucks and the city

Within seconds it will respond with location information.

Apologies, but I need to do some bonfire peeing here... I've seen this posted on another forum I visited and the response was thus to two of the points:

The signal that the remote unlocking device sends out is a radio wave, something that a mobile phone doesn't pick up. A mobile phone picks up sounds, and sends a digital representation of that sounds (via numerous relay points) to the other phone, where it is once again rendered as sound. A mobile phone (unless specifically designed to do so) can not be used to extend the range of your remote car unlocker.

This has got nothing to do with a hidden battery. All it does (on phones of a certain brand - Nokia, I think) is reduce the vocal quality, which reduces the power needed and makes the battery last longer. It does not activate a second 'hidden' battery.

Thanks for clarifying this for us. I actually received this information via an e-mail.

The number 46645 given is tied into google somehow here in the U.S. and it does work for us here. As you said there may be a UK version.

In the U.S. 1411 is called on a land line to get info for listed numbers and business.
The service on the cell phone is part of the text message service. So rather then add charges to your cell phone for information calls you would use text message instead.
Someone with knowledge on how to access google via the cell text message would have to help you out.
I can tell you that the procedure does work here in thew U.S.

Sorry I can't help you any further but I'm sure there is some way for it to work for you. I'm also sure your cell phone provider will not tell you of this service because they would not be able to collect any fees if you are not paying to texting.

Maybe MK Chris can help with this?
