Following their own trials in December, each of the regions submitted 3 boys and girls to play in these trials at Under 11, 13 and 15 held at theMoorways Sports Centre Derby. Play was in 4 groups of 8, with 2 going through to the play-offs. All the groups were full except the Under 11 Girls where there were 3 of 7 and 1 of 8. The objective was to find the players of tomorrow. There was a lot of talent on display, especially at Under 11 and many of the matches deserved a larger audience. At this age the matches are played with total commitment and if there was the odd tear then it was soon gone because there were 6 more matches to play and win. The girls groups were virtually running themselves – all anxious to get on and play. No clenched fists, stamping, strange foreign words and glaring at your opponent at this level!
Results:
U11 Girls - Tin Tin Ho bt. Esther Hoskin 11-4, 11-6, 11-7
U11 Boys - Hilkiah Adebanjo bt. Miles Chan 9-11, 5-11, 11-9, 11-7, 11-7
U13 Boys - Jared Patel bt. Ross Wilson 10-12, 11-8, 11-6, 11-7
U13 Girls - Bethany March bt. Hannah Hoskins 11-5, 11-6, 10-12, 13-11
U15 Girls - Sophie Neil bt. Vicky Smith 9-11, 11-7, 11-6, 9-11, 11-9
U15 Boys - Lewis Gray bt. Jonathan Evans 11-7, 11-9, 11-9
