Are you really concious of what you are eating when it comes to processed food? In this thread I'd like to bring to your attention what's in the everyday food we buy and how the contents compare to the Recommended Daily Allowances (RDAs) for a healthy diet.

The consumption of easy ready meals is ever on the increase with the busy lives we lead but they are choices that we make sometimes without thinking how much salt, sugar and fat they actually contain, that is, until we encounter an illness or someone close to us does.

Let's now look at our first product and compare it's nutritional information to the RDA guide below: -

Women per day

Calories 2000
Fat 70g
Salt less than 6g

Men per day

Calories 2500
Fat 95g
Salt less than 6g

Salt: 1.0g

Then add vegtables and potatoes or even worse chips to your meal. A drink with possibly milk and sugar and you are looking at a meal that consumes almost half of your daily allowance.

Then some of us fry the buger as opposed to grilling it and add fried onions or mushrooms which further soak up the oil it's been cooked in. Times this burger by two and add a side serving of chips and you have again a meal which will aid toward us far exceeding our allowances.

This is just one stock cube. The shocker here is the salt content. Our daily allowance is less than 6g so nearly all of this is taken up with one little cube.
