We have a few regular members now so there must be a reason why you keep coming back? It is our intention to create a Poster which can hopefully be displayed at various clubs and tournaments.
What do you feel are the positive aspects of Table Tennis Talk that you feel we should shout about and hopefully attract new Members?
I personally like the open discussion. As informative as many sites may be you really do get to have your say on Table Tennis Talk!

Honest opinion?
It's an excellent concept but need refinement. Very first thing is the Green background is too solid and bland. Maybe if it had gradients or if it had a rumpled silk effect (you know what I mean)?
The text colour too. I think Gold would look better? Finally I don't like the text in the bottom right which is in Italic, yes different text on the poster draws your attention all over but it needs to be kept bold.
This is in no way criticism but genuine feed back

Thats pretty much everything on the poster is maybe wrong !
Lol ill refine

It perhaps needs a few bullet points of the types of discussions i.e.
Competition News
Useful Links
Member Interaction
Serious Debate
Fun and Relaxation
These are a few suggestions. Love the map in the middle but needs to be a bit more punchy and loud for it to attract attention whilst hung on a corridor wall.

I'll offer the opposite point of view to Annie
I like it. Too much colour or effect will over complicate it and make people search for the message you want to deliver. I am a big fan of 'keep it simple'.
I like the change of text in the corner. It does draw attention and as it is a repeat of something already on there the change of text is a nice emphasis.
I do agree with Annie that it needs to be punchy - I like the 'a new spin on the sport' comment and may look to make that bigger (perhaps drop it down a line to fit it in but leave it on the right hand side of the map).
Whilst putting the bullett points in would help the reader appreciate what is on the site I am not sure how you do that without losing the punchy message. Perhaps leaving the reader wondering and thus having to come and see for themselves would at least get them to make that initial hit.
Finally - any idea if you need permission to put the faces of kids on your poster ?

I don't have the map image in a format I can use but this is a general idea of what I mean with Punchy, bullet points and the background.
Hope this helps

I'm sure with the correct map image and a glossy finish this could look nice. A new spin on the sport is a great phrase

Nice one Annie !
I would probably lose the bullet points about competition news and links. I know you have them on this site but you can also get that from the ETTA one. The thing that is different here and you want to encourage (I assume) is the debate and fun interaction.
So perhaps just leave in the serious debate point (is tempted to use the word 'mass' in front of debate for some reason) and fun point.
I would still have the web address in a different font or something so it catches the eye.

I think I prefer Dave's shade of green too but just felt it was a bit flat.
Thanks for your approval Belisar although I think you should go to Mass, drop to your knees and say 10 Hail Mary's!

Hi Dave - really like the design and principle of the poster - a suggestion would be include bonny Scotland and Ireland (to be sure!!!) - but I can see that they come along in later designs. Just continue with the photo's.
In relation to the photo's themselves why don't you consider targeting particular styles to the audience's concerned, i.e., senior's, vetts, cadetes etc - this way you'll probably attract more interest because they will relate more to the posters.
Types of discussion points on the poster can vary too depending on the audience being targeted - without going into detail you will hopefully understand where I'm coming from on this.
Final thing is possible have some actual example discussion threads, action photo's, captions (to show there's some humour).
To capture some people that have not previously been involved try and target some key players, i.e., Roy Norton (Vetts) and others from the Seniors etc - sometimes getting one person to campaign on your behalf will possibly increase membership and so on.
Anyway, like the design - don't lose the photo's otherwise it will look really bland.
Finally, Finally....advertise the website in every table tennis association booklet, i.e., like our Sunderland handbook - again this way people might happen to read it and maybe visit the site. Of course this is a foot in the door too - this can also lead to getting web links from their website onto this one. Of course, if you do this why not drop and advert into the Vetts Handbook and Vetts British League booklet (i.e., that gets handed out at the 2 weekend).
Obviously, I know you tried it before but you could get some business like cards with the webite address on - and a little bit narrative and / or marketing on the back, i.e., Tees Sport.
Right...that's enough from me - just a few ideas hopefully worthwhile!!!

Don't know the legalities here, and maybe someone could help. But would permission need to be sought to use the players photos particularly when youngsters are involved? I'm sure they probably wouldn't mind, but there is always one.

I believe DaveR has the answer to this one so I'll let him explain

I imagine it's the copyright holder of the image in question, rather than the person in it. I could be (and probably am) wrong though.

DaveR will explain the score eloquently when he logs on next time.

I know in schools, when we want to use photos, we have to get permission from all parents of pupils involved before we use a photo. If one parent refuses then we can't uses a photo. might just be an LEA rule.
