Hi Peeps,
I would be very interested to hear what blades you would suggest which provide excellent control, very light in weight and is ideal for heavy spin looping on the forehand, but at the same time, capable in providing excellent dwell time for a backhand chop.

Nothing like a challenge ! :laola:

Hi Leeston, I've been playing around with different blades the last year or so. I'm basically a forehand looper, played more for high spin but not toooo much speed.
I've used a Stiga Allround for about 25 years, and I keep coming back to it.
A lighter blade I used recently was the Hallmark Aurora Blade, which is fast on the forehand and slow slow on the other. Yes, the blade is faster, but trying touch shots away from the table is near impossible - the ball flying away from the bat.
I'm not sure why you need a lighter blade, as I've found a slower, heavier one provides a better spin effect - however, it's all subjective...

HTH but probably confuses as much as anything.

PS. beware of pricing on the Hallmark blade as in the last couple of weeks it has swung from £25 to £19 and now up to £30. I think Speedy Bats still do it for £19.

Thanks Moggy,
I prefer the lighter blade as i have a wrist problem, so the ligher the blade the better. My ideal weight would be around 60 grams. As a 100% spin player, I don't need that much speed as dwell time is the most critical for me.

the bolsar wood blades are very light but a bit on the quick side for me as i do like to be able to feel the ball hitting the bat

I must try the Hallmark Aurora Blade with an attacking rubber on the slow side - I'll let you know how it goes.
The blade is very light and a bit oversized (which I've cut down).
