View Full Version : Looking for a Team

I would like to play Veterans National League and am looking for a team. I live in the North East, but I dont suppose that would make much difference. I would be looking to play in one of the lower divisions if possible. Standard wise I play in the Premier division of the Northumberland league and had a 70% average this year. I also play in the top division of the Sunderland league. I played in the last Vets county weekend at Halifax for Northumberland. I like to think that I am quite a sociable type of person and get on well with most people (this is starting to sound like a lonley hearts advert). Now....If I cannot get signed on by an existing team, I might consider starting my own team if that is possible, would have to check with league administrators. It would have to be self financed if anyone else is interested (i.e. team members pay thier own way and split any other expenses). Please get in touch through Table Tennis Talk. Cheers Windy :laola:

nothing against Thompsons they have done exceptionally well but I was one of the originals along with sunny boy williamson Jimmy Scope, and Alan has used about 40 players since then the problem i found u would travel 2 Widness/Lancaster and we have about 6 in the squad so sometimes only got 1 game i was axed because better players became available and 2 sets over whole weekend not ideal Jimmy is the only survivor Perhaps u should put an advert in vetts magazine because some teams only have 3 players unless u don't mind the large squad system

it is always gona be like that though in anything you do, there is always gona be someone better (or younger) becomes available and is snapped up by your team and you are left to rot on the sidelines as a supporter, it happened to me and eddie for darlington in british league.
Then we were expected to play in 2nd or 3rd team only because we could drive!!!!!

yeah Andy totally agree but i am just making a point concerning teams with large squads some teams in lower leagues manage on 3 players and 4 at the most it depends if u like playing Thompsons have done really well and moved from accrington stanley 2 to chelsea their first team squad last year was K Rodgers J kennedy Harry and the tin man gone r the days when i played 4 accrington

point taken Robstar!!! but there are also advantages of being in a big squad like thompsons because not always everyone is available what with family or work commitments and if on a team of 3/4 you always feel pressure to be available otherwise you are letting your team down, but if there are more then you can say NO you are not available and your team do not :resent::resent::resent:you.
or your wife and kids are not :taz::taz::taz: with you.
