Hi all, just had me op today. Was not sure which knee they were going to do.
In the end they did my right knee, which was the original op set about 4 months ago,but after injuring my left knee, tearing the cruciate during the sunderland tournament,i asked if they could do the left.
In the end my consultant prefered to get the right knee sorted then do the left in the next few months..
After the op I spoke to the consultant and was told he had done a micro fracture procedure, this is a procedure invented by r steadman(the guy who does all the footballers) the procedure promotes new cartledge growth.Anyway sounds promising ,but the re hab is at least 16 weeks...
The first four weeks I am not allowed to put any weight on the leg,got to use crutches, fell over twice already (any tips)
The point being that about 8 weeks of work now, 16 weeks to get back to some sort of fitness..
Then my acl op on the left leg about 6 month re hab..
I will be off away from tt for 18 months:resent:
but hope fully as m ali said I shall return...
Any advice on anything /// welcome
Cheers forum peoples of the earth....

Really sorry to hear you've further injured yourself Harry but pleased that the Doctors will be able to put you back together again. Hey I hope you're not having any enhancements done like the Six Million Dollar Man? :resent:

That's a rough go there Harry... Crutches are a royal pain most assuredly... not only to manage... but on the under arms as well.
I'm sure you're familiar with the regimen but if not... all sorts of salubrious joint supplements such as Evening Primrose Oil, Glucosamine Sulfate, MSM, Vit E... all that can be helpful. I've been taking that stuff for a long time... and believe me, I know if I run out of any and forget to take it... after about a week.
Meanwhile... follow Docs' orders and keep in mind... that sometimes (mayhap more here in the states) they will tell you... oh.... 18 months... 6 months... whatever seemingly exhorbitant amount of time recovery is... so that once you'ver recoverde in half that time... they can take credit for the "miracle".
Well.... allrighty that may sound a by cynical however it was once put forth by George Bernard Shaw that "The gift of accurate observation is often referred to as cynicysm by those who do not possess it."
Uhhh... or something like that.
Mend quickly and completely sir!

Harry, good luck with the recovery.....Are you aware that you need to provide temporary cover for your abscence from the Birtley line up next season, best get the cheque book out and get into the transfer market. Samsonov seems to be playing quite well at the momment....see if he's up for it ?
On another note, did you ask the surgeon if he did lipo suction ?....when you are recovered those chicken legs of yours could do with supporting less weight. If not I could help. I will be round with the drill and hoover soon.

Cheers all,not to bothered about recovery time,as long as i can play again....
Yes im on a healthy eating plan also windy,at least looking not to put any weight on..ha ha..
typicall tho ,had me best season for years, but when you cant compete it makes you realise that its the game and taking part that counts..
knee feels not as painful as last op,its just a pain in the ass ,as larry would say not being able to put any weight on the leg..
oh well more tennis to watch on euro sport...sharapova 2 points away from losing in first round, won in the end..
Cheers mr belafonte....

Aaaah bless little Godba....!!!
Steadman's surgery is reknowned throughout the world maaaaatey for its success but it is only as good as its rehabilitation - so MAKE sure you follow it to the letter or in the wise words of Captain Manirin...'you'll be dooooooooooooooooooooooooomed!!!'
Anyway, here's a quick poem to cheer you up...:
There was a young man called 'Goddy'
Who liked to tipple hot 'Toddy' (its nicer than Guiness!)
But then one day, in the month of May
Came a nurse with a nice fit 'Body'
'Bend over' she said, 'across this nice bed'
'And I shall go & get the surgeon'
'Don't worry' she said 'He's just been fed'
'And he's previously operated on Persson!!'
'Mind you' she said, 'He's no miracle worker'
'He won't be able to mend that belly'
'So...be careful' she said, 'Or it'll get bigger' she said
'If you do nothing else but watch telly'!!! (and Franky!)
So the morale of the story is - rest, exercise gently and you'll soon be on the road to recovery - take care maaaaaaatey!!!
Spongey!!!

Good luck Mr Belafonte.
As a sidenote, your username reminds me of the very first dialog in Only Fools and Horses:
Grandad: That Sidney Potter's a good actor, inne Rodney?
Rodney: Yeah, knockout Grandad.
Grandad: I mean, 'e was marvellous in 'Guess Who's Coming to Dinner'
Rodney: Sidney Potter?
Grandad: Yeah, you know 'im - always plays the black fella!
Rodney: It's Sidney Poitier!
Grandad: Sidney Potter.
Rodney: Look, it's Poitier.
Grandad: It's Potter.
Rodney: It's bloody Poitier, I'm telling you!
Grandad: And I'm telling you it's bloody Potter!
[Del walks in]
Del: Are you two at it again, are you?
Rodney: Del, how do you pronounce that fella's name on the telly? Sidney Poitier or Sidney Potter?
Del: Personally, I'd pronounce it Harry Belafonte but you two please yourselves!
Rodney: You daft old sod, it was Harry Belafonte all along!

Quality Harry!!! Aha - but you always have to allow your daughters to win otherwise you wouldn't be a quality Dad!!
Your Brian! - yeah he was saying the other week that he'd started playing golf with your Gordon - he says its brilliant and its a good laugh too!
Once I get the next 2 or 3 weeks out of the way with work (its been crazy for the last couple of months) I might have a round with them...and then a little sneaky pint or two on the 19th hole - oooooh YES!!!
Knee? - are you off work then too (full pay I hope!) - plenty of Trisha, Jeremy Kyle etc - right up your street maaaaatey.

Well....my name came from my daughter Grace's favourite TV programme - Spongebob Squarepants! She also had 4 goldfish named after some of the charactors - Spongebob / Squarepants / Mr Crabs / Squidward. I say had because one by one they've died - solong Squidward....off to the sea via the toilet flush!!!
Then...on the strength of that I chose my name knowing that it was connected with Grace and also double meaning in relation to table tennis (sponges) and of course the famous Bobby Thompson...'is that bob!!!'
I thank you - Spongey!

LOL... "Harry" and myself are both having a dubious time pursuant to returning to the sport. 25 years for myself and my feet are protesting madly.
I've found some solutions that help... but best at this juncture to take a break... as it were... I'm off to pursue another of my passions in the Adirondack Mountains.
http://www.tourexpo.com
What's nice is the vibrations in the floorboards and footpegs do tend to soothe the feet.
So maybe that's an alternative "Harry".... get yerself a fine motorbike... I oft yearn for my olde 1950 AJS... alas, I'll have to settle for the Drifter once again.
Might I submit the following for myself... and "Harry" 'cross the pond...

dear Mr. Bellafountain,
Before qualifying to play for Austria, Ding Yi underwent major knee operations [cartridges removed].
So, before this he was about 6 feet 2 inches.... Was able to eyeball Kalinic.
Have you measured yourself [height i am meaning] since operation?
