Emily Bates of Lincolnshire added a second National Singles Title to her 2007/8 collection in a typically dominant performance at the University Centre here in Norwich. In the Boys there was a less expected result as No 3 seed Lewis Gray of Kent grabbed his third National Championships win.

Lewis Gray of Kent produced a set of superb performances on his way to the Under 14 Boys Singles Championships. In the final the No 3 seed dominated winning in 3 straight sets over Reece Tan from Essex. The key match in his trip to the Championship was his semi final defeat of Number 1 seed Ping Ho of Middlesex.

No 2 seed Zak Zilesnick had an injured hand and was not at his best but it was still a superb performance from Jared Patel of Essex to knock Zak out, from 2 sets to love down Jared turned the 1st round match round to win 11-6 in the fifth set

In the Under 14 Girls Emily Bates was dominant dropping only a single set on her way to the Title. In the final she faced No 2 seed Lucy Davidson and controlled the final all the way winning in 3 straight sets.

If Tin Tin Ho of Middlesex had dreams of winning an Under 14 title at the age of 10 then that dream was shattered in the 1st knockout round when Evangeline Collier of Essex took a excellent victory over the No 3 seed

Lewis has improved alot recently and he deserves this. When I've seen him play Liam Pitchford and Danny LOwe he has lost 3-0 but deuce in all 6 sets. Can i point out that since the draw was made Lewis is now number 1 under 14.

Under 13 National Champions, Sam Walker of Nottingham and Tin Tin Ho of Middlesex

In the Boys event the Number 2 seed, effectively the No 1 seed due to the absence of Zac Zilesnik due to injury, Sam Walker was in domineering form dropping only 1 set in a event which saw many close clashes in the earlier rounds.

In the Final the unlucky Scott Hollowood of South Yorkshire had to settle for his second silver medal of the day. Sam was on fire in the Final winning all 3 sets very comfortably

In the Under 13 Girls few would have bet against Under 14 Champion Emily Bates claiming another Title but Hampshire’s Tressa Armitage had other ideas. In a superb first round performance Tressa took a astounding 5 set win over the favourite and No 1 seed Emily Bates. She could not repeat her winning ways in the Semi Final however, going down to Jessica Dawson of Cleveland.

In the bottom half all was much quieter, the already double champion Tin Tin Ho of Middlesex dispatched Bethany March of Essex in 3 sets and in the Semi final although Vicky Smith of Devon took the first set Tin Tin recovered to reach her third Final of the weekend.

The Final was a final triumph of the weekend for Tin Tin Ho, a hat trick of titles, this time another 3 straight win over Jessica Dawson of Cleveland provided a fitting climax to a weekend of matches that belonged at least as far as the Girls were concerned to the rising star from Middlesex.
