Hi guys

I am wondering if anyone here has experience playing with an "oversized" bat. I find that I often miss shots using my regular blade because the ball bounces off the blade's edges in random directions. Thus I was thinking an extra half a centimeter radius or so on my bat would help. I'm quite a tall bloke with largish hands so maybe a larger blade would fit me better?
How easy do you think it is to adapt to a larger blade, and will it slow my game down as a result?
I'll be glad to hear your experiences on this one!

Oversized blades are not very popular but play ok. The main thing i would concentrate on is the stroke enhancement in other words correct your stroke play before moving to lager sized blades.

If you went along the lines of doing this the logical conclusion for players who practice less and therefore are not so good as some others would be a 6 foot wide racket!

I still firmly believe in the practice system making the shot contact point on the blade as accurate as can be, with the variation of each shot meaning a different contact point on rubber giving the best spin / hit or chop and so on.

Something I discovered at the end of this season, was your timing can be thrown by the most unlikely parameter.
I have always played with a standard Stiga Alround Classic blade, and decided to try one of the Hallmark combination blades, which was a lot lighter. I even cut the blade down so it was the same shape and size as the Stiga. For two match nights the number of miss hits off the blade edge was unbelievable. Reverting back to the old bat and the problem disappeared.
Logically, using a lighter bat I would assume I would get the bat to the ball contact point slightly earlier, but it was the top edge of the blade I kept catching. The weight difference definately threw my timing off.
So.... my advice is to try a heavier blade! or at least borrow one before buying, or even put some heavier rubbers on the blade.
