If you are intending to enter the first Grand Prix of the season, the City of Liverpool Open butterfly Grand Prix, you have just under a week to get your entry form in to the Referee, Dave Cochrane.
The closing date for this event has been extended until 27th July.
There is also a Halifax VETTS tournament August 9th and 10th, this is the 6th annual event Barry Snowden has organised at this venue since the York Tournament stopped.
Any information mail myself

erm yes i won it the last time it was held in York !
Three years ago i believe.
I prefered the York venue to Halifax also as its a little stuffy in warm conditions plus the ball tends to float and wander a little but nevertheless a nice club with a warm welcome.

Off to Halifax this weekend myself.....Got the new bryce speed fx on now and am struggling to come to terms with it, having played with glue for so many years. It will be interesting to play my 1st proper matches with it. As for Halifax as a venue, never having played at York. The tables are mint but you do get the odd funny bounce due to the floor conditions. You get loads of games though as the groups have 7 or 8 players in them as I remember. Will be knackered by the end of the day.

I know, but it will be soon !! and I'd rather take the pain now of getting used to life without glue. its better than nearer the start of the season proper. :undertheweather:

have just returned from the Flanders open entered the Vetts 60 and after 5 matches finished up with a silver matches losing close to a frenchman in the final
There was a bit confusion over the rubbers people were playing with as a list was produced but didnot include some old rubbers Having had a summer break i still had Scalpel on 1 side and had 2 purchase some feint ox which was 10£ cheaper than in england and went straight into play the new rubber u have to play a more orthodox stroke and does not have any wobly effects so i was quite surprised that i did ok
it was noticeable that several defenders were struggling and also the lack of the Glue sound was missing though still traces could be heard and the younger players tendered to play longer strokes on their forehand So glue boys and potential funny rubber players its back 2 the drawing board Robstar
