Disability Sport Events (DSE) is holding the National Table Tennis Championships at Stoke Mandeville Stadium, Aylesbury this weekend. Over 50 players from across the country will compete at the event, which highlights new talent and provides established players with a nationally renowned competition.
Up and coming stars like Jack Pegram and Ella Booker are two of the most promising players in their sport. Jack from Watford is sixteen and won the Nationwide Rising Star award last year, which recognised his potential success and carried an amazing £6,000 prize. He has since gone on to win more trophies and prove he is a talent to be watched.
Ella from West Bromwich plays for Wood Green Table Tennis Club. She first began at the DSE championship a few years ago and now at eighteen is a real prospect for the London 2012 Paralympics.
Gordon Neale, Director of Events for DSE, said: “Through sponsorship and fundraising initiatives we are able to host events in many sports. This DSE championship has been an annual meet for decades and we are always happy to see our champions go on to international success. This weekend will highlight the country’s talent and hopefully encourage a lot of support for them and disability sport generally.”
Other partners assisting the championships are ETTA, BTTAD, Mencap Sport and UK Deaf Sport. Further information about DSE and the winners from this event is available via www.disabilitysport.org.uk (http://www.disabilitysport.org.uk/)
