Well looks like our friends across the pond are off to a flying start with a Gold for the Women's Fencing and a 2nd Gold for the Men's 400M Swimming.

And a 3rd Gold has been chalked up by the Men's 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay. Along with 4 Silver Medals and 4 Bronze Medals I'd say our friends are well on track (scuse pun :resent:)

Well it seems Michael Phelps is having a great Olympics with a 3rd Gold in the Men's 200M Freestyle. Over all it seems the USA are having a good Games with 19 Medals in total.
Although China have 9 Gold Medals todate in total they only have 14 Medals so pints wise are currently second.
Needless to say I think the UK has stopped for a Tea Break! :resent:

Apparently, at the tender age of 23 (well, not that tender.. I'm only 24, but you get my drift) Phelps has won more gold medals than Mexico have ever won in all their Olympics.

Blakey (I hate you Butler.. not that the Americans amongst us will understand that reference) has dumped Fed out in straight sets, tie-break in the second set.
(I really should start editing rather than adding multiple posts on.. sorry!)
After Fed was dumped out by your American fella, you're unusally faring less well in the women's - Serena is out and Venus is a set down now! However, she could well come out all guns blazing now.

Well Michael Phelps now has 7 Gold Medals. Has anyone ever acheived this many gold Medals in a single Olympic Games?
Annie
08-16-2008, 05:16 PM
Well it seems Mark Spitz equalled this feat in any one Olympic Games and also won seven Gold Medals in the 1972 Munich Olympics.
However Phelps now holds the world record and detailed HERE (http://thescotsman.scotsman.com/sport/Awesome-Phelps-sets-Olympic-gold.4388605.jp)

I think if Phelps gets his eighth it'll smash Spitz. He only got that seventh by the slimmest of whiskers.. I didn't think he'd done it at first!
