He also made a new European record! Well done to him

I'm sure you can speak Hungarian much better than I then? How are you liking it in England, I imagine it was difficult to settle at first? O and it's colder in the Summer!

Yeah - I speak Hungarian with all of my family
It was quite hard to settle in but I am liking England a lot now :)
In the summer I usually go away - mostly to Hungary - anyway, so it doesn't matter that it's colder lol

Here is some more good news for Hungary at the Olympics:
BEIJING, China, August 12. Hungary's Daniel Gyurta won the silver medal at the 2004 Olympics in the 200m breaststroke. The 19-year-old specialist in the 200 breast established an Olympic record today by winning the final of seven heats in 2:08.68.

Annie (and Ezsti Ess), you may be interested in the BBC Sport blog I've been reading here (http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/olympics/2008/08/is_phelps_really_the_greatest.html) about the debate surrounding who is greatest Olympian of all time.. a number are mentioned, Phelps (who kicked off the debate with his achievements), Redgrave, Owens, Lewis, etc.. however, a couple of people have mentioned a Hungarian fencer by the name of Aladár Gerevich (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aladár_Gerevich), who I had never heard of.. but judging by his record and the timespan in which he achieved this, I think he's a very good shout, as much as I disagree with the debate as a whole in the first place... first gold in 1932, completed with his last in 1960?
Blimey.
Well, I'm sure you two had heard of him already, but I hadn't.
Anyway.. personally I think comparing athletes from two different sports is like comparing your sunday roast with your Ford Mondeo.. they're all entirely different disciplines and it's difficult enough to compare competitors from the same sport but different eras, let alone different sports. But I was suitably impressed.

Thanks for that snippet Chris  I hadn't actually heard of him but I do know of Puskas the famous Footballer. My Father reckoned he played against him when he was in the youth team many, many years ago.

This is rather interesting as I've never heard of him either. (But I guess he competed a long time before I was alive.)
I totally agree that people from different sports shouldn't be compared, because they are so different.

Ah, watch for the weekend, Dave! I'm even getting up early to watch the swimming.. actually I end up going to the pub and not going to bed at all until tomorrow afternoon - bring on my own personal marathon!
Annie - given the opportunity, would you compete for England (or Great Britain, depending on the competition) or Hungary?

First I would like to say that I have dual nationality and am proud to be British as well as Hungarian. However I've always felt more Hungarian because it's where my family came from and the majority still are. So if I had to represent a Country it would have to be Hungary.
And if I had to choose a discipline it would have to be Cooking. I cook a mean Pheasant Soup and Gulyás (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goulash) :licklips:
