Hi, I'm a newbie and already need your help. I wasn't sure where to post this so feel free to move....

Right, well despite playing for many years I have today for the first time ever managed to ruin a new rubber. I was cutting my new rubbers and using the new Butterfly VOC free glue to stick them down. Unfortuantely I stuck one of the rubbers on wonky and it was an instant reaction to pull it straight off again to re-attach (former speedgluer) however, this then left a lot of lumpy glue on my rubber. I have tried everything to try and remove this glue but it just won't come off. it actually looks like i have thrown sugar over it!!

Does anyone have any tips or ideas on how I could remove it or is it just a case of a very expensive lesson learnt!:resent:

Hi and welcome to TT Talk.

Now I don't know if this will work but when I have sticky stuff to remove without too much damage I use Nail Varnish Remover and some absorbent cotton cloth. If no one else can come up with a better idea try that.

Thanks
I'll certainly give it a try - i have already tried peeling it off, rubbing it with a wet cloth, watered down white spirit and of course more glue to help peel it off!

A new rubber has already been ordered but it would be nice to try to save this one!

Hey Sarah - someone has joined that I know, woo! Come on the Milton Keynes contingent.

As you know, I wouldn't know how to help with that.. but hope Annie's advice helps!

Ok this has happened so many times !

Nearly as many times as the two rubbers stuck together syndrome......

Firstly let the rubeer / glue settle and dry overnight

Next calm down and either apply a very thin smear of thinners or spirit

Then re-apply with correct glue and use a clicky press if you have one and let the thing settle as this the biggest problem players not allowing a "settling" period and panicking

Keep the faith youl be fine

oh and welcome to the site nice to see you around the place

Same problem as we all have at times may i say, be patient as Dave has said with a settling period as this always helps the rubber. Welcome to the site.
