His semi-final really got me going! To see him battle against the odds was inspiring and is a big reason why I want to play again. It showed the true spirit of the sport.

Quick question, I thought he was sponsored by Donic but he had a Stiga shirt on during the tournament. Has he changed sponsor or was he just wearing the Swedish sponsored shirt?

He is sponsored by Stiga now .....apparently for the Olympics to regain Table Tennis recogniton although that was reported in the Swedish Media.........one hell of an achievment in my opinion as the Persson / Waldner days will be in most peoples minds forever

I do hope that Persson continues playing. I read an interview and it did seem that he was going to keep on going, as he wants to aim to break the Chinese dominance.

Good on him i say, at that age what an achievement to still be one of the best in the World. It just proves that it is not always the young ones that can achive something!!!!!

I think the Swedish team have always been sponsored by Stiga (correct me if i am wrong) :rocker:

Persson is still under contract to Donic and will be untill at least 2010. Anyone want to to take bets on them NOT offering him another contract?! What an athlete. Your absolutely correct Mr Wilko, Sweden has always been sponsored by Stiga.
