View Full Version : Fred returns from his Summer Off.
Fred has returned to the table after a summer of fun in the 'sun'. He has grown a little which means he can get over the table to push although it is a little awkward to find the right angle on the forehand side.
Comments and suggestions for improvement always welcome.

Playing quiite well no it seems with the height giving that little extra "control" stroke is improving, hard to tell in footwork area as maybe a video of Fred playing some movement practice for example side to side and some combined Forehand / Backhand strokes to see the movement better.

Blimey he looks good. I'll have to show that to some of the beginners I am going to be coaching soon.
He needs to get his free arm up so his body is better balanced. Won't make a lot of difference at the moment but better to get the stance as right as you can now rather than have hard work down the line (once the bad habit has set in).

There is a little of him moving at about 1:15, he strides and gets his bat back well when moving to the left, but tends to leave his right leg behind. He finds moving to the right more difficult and often forgets his backswing, and blocks instead. We are onto these problems though.

Well there is no doubt in my mind he has fabulous bat skills and he is even moving his feet well too. I think one day these videos will be priceless although I think they are already hey Dad?
Excellent stuff and keep them coming http://www.tabletennistalk.co.uk/forum/images/icons/clap.gif

Great video and improving quickly with the height it deffinitely helps the stroke play and the footwork follows suit if addressed correctly.

The vids are priceless to me, but I think most dads enjoy watching their kids having fun, particularly if they are following in their footsteps.
We did hit a bit of a milestone today, it was the first time I have actually worked up a sweat whilst playing against Fred but I'm sure it wont be the last. I was the only one sweating though.

Oh my God! Fred's better than me! :worthy:
I can't remember I even know how to hold a TT bat at his age! I hope he will turn out to be a quality player in the future!
Which club where these videos were taken at JKC? Looks like a good venue!
It is at the Dewsbury Table Tennis centre in Heckmondwike (just around the corner from my house). I pay a yearly fee and then I can go in as often as I like at any time of day + all matches are free. Fred is free at the moment anyway.
