This year we have 206 athletes competing on behalf of Team GB. Above you can see their names and where they are live now and where they were from originally. Let's all get behind someone local, follow and support them.

This really looks to be an amazing games on so many levels. :woho:

i met Stephen Miller when we were younger in the Final of the Young Sports Person of the year awards, not blowing my trumpet here but i was awarded the title and Stephen finished 2nd but my point here is that he is in a wheelchair and has done loads in & for sport and is a quality lad who has done more than any fully able person so as a friend GOOD LUCK TO STEPHEN hope you bring a medal back to ENGLAND

Annie

What is his discipline in Athletics then?

Mr Wilko
09-06-2008, 10:15 PM
he is in a wheelchair, not too sure of his exact disabilitie though but think he is paralysed in some form but is a quality lad with a brilliant sense of humour :static::static::static::static:

Mr Wilko it was way past your bed time I asked what is his discipline not disability.

What's his sport within Athletics?

Ah, I've not managed to see any Paralympics yet (well I was hammered for most of the weekend and I've been focussing most of my attention on the US Open.)

Sounds like an excellent start, hopefully we can defend the second place we've had in the medals table for the last couple of paralympics!

This is cracking - I'd do the same as I did for the Olympics, but I don't know as much about our Paralympians for a start and the BBC coverage is less comprehensive; there's no live text coverage and no live video streams.

Stephen Miller is cerabal Palsy and he throws the club from a seated position.

In Table Tennis we have found the going tough, although on paper we have only had two bad loses, we are now out of the singles and looking forward to the Team event,

18 year old David Wetherill missed out on the semi finals on games count back with the German (athens silver medalist) going through who David beat 3-1 in his first ever match at the Paralympics,

Crowds have been good on average 3,000 each session with screaming chinese

Annie
09-09-2008, 05:06 PM
Are you actually there Hovis?

Hovis Bread Eater
09-10-2008, 01:44 PM
yes im here in the paralympic village and we have finished our singles, unfortunately no medals, had 4 close to getting into medal matches.

All my photos are on facebook.

You lucky man! I bet the experience must be unbelievable?

Annie
09-11-2008, 06:10 AM
Well we now have 22 Golds, 44 Medals in total and are in 2nd place.

Once again Team China are doing brilliantly and are unlikely to be caught up now with 28 Golds and 86 Medals in total.

I missed the BBC highlights last night but will be watching again tonight at 7pm. Wish I was there with you though Hovis as I bet the atmosphere is electric?

Cuuuuumon Team GB, Hovis is cheering for ya! :woho:

The atmosphere is very good and well supported, not like athens where it was one man and his dog at the table tennis

I'd love to be there too.

We're doing very well, looking good for defending our second spot!:rocker:

Wow I'm tied up for two days (you wish) and I've just checked and we now have 41 Golds and 90 Medals in total! :dance3:

I'll be posting a full list of our Medals at the end of the competition.

I think our second place is in the bag now... we ain't going to catch China (not that we would be expected to anyway), but the yanks are way behind us! :rocker:

Closing ceremony was fantastic, some stuff you could never expect, apart from the 8mins from london which did not get any applause for.

Then all was invited back to the London 2012 party at a nice hotel.

Boris Johnson was there too,.
