Having been contacted by various sources we have looked at certain coaching, training elements and generally things that are new on the market, the return board has been seen before but there are a few examples below on its use and workability.
Its the first time ive seen this type of "return board (http://www.returnboard.com/)", my only negative comment would be the "depth" of every shot is middle court so as to hit the return board at the required or desired point, meaning you may programme people to do this all of the time, having said that it looks a great tool for return play and footwork also.

Stick a few sheets of LP's on it and it would be the perfect practice tool to develop a game against the LP style.

Hey great idea
lets some LP's or even stranger Dr N to practice against, it would probably help someone who has major problems, whilst not annoying some opponent who has the task of "feeding"

what about using various rubbers on the same board, to make the returns less predictable? Or would that defeat the object of the board?

Actually ive seen the board now and its design is such that various surfaces could be used with it giving a less predictable..........

It does look like they're playing strokes to get the ball to come back [i.e just the right placement, pace and spin] as opposed to strokes to develop good stroke play.
Might be ok if you cant get a partner.

Well the robots always had limitations, and were only good for set piece and working on a specific weakness or improving a specific area in ones game. This maybe the same but a whole lot less cost wise.
Robots were always a strange debate...........were they good or bad?
Maybe a new thread lol

I must say though, I do kinda like it :) - I would say that it needs to be curved/angled at the corners to allow the ball to be hit to the corners cross table and get it to come back.

I've just been looking at this board and the fact that the panels appear fixed so as Mrs Nickerbater has mentioned there is an instinctive reaction to play favourably toward oneself.
Now I'm no expert in these things but could there not be a board developed where the panels have the ability to move marginally when struck? This could then give a different trajectory every time a panel is struck? An opponent is a living moving target after all.
Just a thought :resent:

Hy Annie,
The board moves, it moves into 21 stages.
Each level requires a different timing.
Thus, ball flight Railways for beginners and experts possible.
This is good for training.
For example, in training for a hobby room or the youth training in table tennis club.
There is no substitute for playing partner.
The training with the Return Board is a nice change.

That's right!
The increased demand comes from table tennis clubs.
Big benefits, the training of topspin technique with young players on returnboard.
For young players is very important that immediate feedback on their proposals.
