Andrew BAGGALEY, England’s leading Table Tennis Medallist of all time at the Commonwealth Games will be honoured with a National Express Coach named in his honour as recognition for his achievements in the sport and as part of a sponsorship agreement with himself and also Commonwealth Games England (CGE).

Sport England announced today that the School Games were due to receive an additional investment of £10 million from key sponsor Sainsbury’s. The funds will go towards supporting the new School Games Competition over the next four years up to 2015 and come in tandem with extra pledges from the Department of Health and Sport England which take the investment total up to £32 million.

Agonisingly one place short of competing in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, she was the first reserve for the Women’s Singles event; England’s Kelly Sibley is high on the selection list for the Great Britain Team to compete in the table tennis events at the forthcoming 2012 Olympic Games in London. She is the reigning English National champion and alongside Joanna Parker, very much a mainstay of the national team.

Present at every Paralympic Games since 1984 in Stoke Mandeville, Great Britain’s Neil Robinson has been awarded the M.B.E. (Member of the British Empire) in the New Year’s Honours list issued on Sunday 1st January 2012. The honours, made annually by the British Government, recognise outstanding achievements in many different walks of life; it can be bravery, a contribution to society, excelling in sport, whatever.

Turkey and mince pies aside, a spectacular entry of top players headed south west to Plymouth the day after boxing day for a Christmas table tennis bonanza at the first ever Woolwell Open. With over 250 matches scheduled to contest the £3,000 prize money on offer the scene was set for some breath taking table tennis at the new home of the Woolwell TT Club, the recently re-furbished Eggbuckland Community College.

From humble beginnings in 1999, the award winning, ITTF Development Programme now regularly conducts around 100 courses per year and provides equipment assistance to approximately 30 countries per year. When the ITTF Development Programme began in 1999, one of the aims was to have table tennis played in every country of the world.
